Premier Hotels & Resort homegrown brand has evolved into a formidable force, boasting 24 properties across the nation. With a steadfast commitment to excellence, innovation, and community upliftment, Premier Hotels & Resorts exemplifies the transformative power of visionary leadership and strategic growth.

Established over three decades ago, Premier Hotels & Resorts embarked on a mission to redefine hospitality in South Africa. Under the stewardship of Managing Director Samuel Nassimov, the company prioritised personalised service, staff development, and community engagement. This ethos laid the groundwork for a brand that resonates with both leisure and business travelers.

“A project of this magnitude is critical in creating job opportunities,” Nassimov emphasised, highlighting the company’s dedication to socio-economic development.

Strategic Expansion and Resilience

While the global hospitality sector grappled with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Premier Hotels & Resorts adopted a contrarian approach. Instead of retrenching, the company seized the opportunity to refurbish existing properties and acquire new ones. This proactive strategy not only preserved jobs but also positioned the brand for post-pandemic success.

In August 2024, Premier Hotels & Resorts unveiled its 25th property: Premier Hotel Thohoyandou in Limpopo Province. This R194 million development stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to community empowerment and sustainable growth.

The hotel features 120 rooms, conference facilities accommodating up to 450 delegates, a business suite, bar and restaurant with a wine bar, outdoor pool, and gym. Its strategic location near the University of Venda and local cultural attractions positions it as a hub for both business and leisure travelers.

Commitment to Community and Empowering Women in Leadership

Premier Hotels & Resorts’ investment in Thohoyandou extends beyond infrastructure. The construction phase generated approximately 480 jobs, ranging from unskilled labor to skilled artisans and project managers. Post-opening, the hotel employs 85 permanent staff and 30–40 contract or part-time workers, significantly impacting local livelihoods.

Premier Hotels & Resorts places a strong emphasis on gender equity within its workforce. Currently, women occupy 27% of senior management roles, 48.7% of mid-management positions, and 61.6% of junior management roles. This commitment to inclusivity fosters a diverse and dynamic organisational culture.

A Vision for Sustainable Growth

“We strongly believe in the upliftment of skills which is why we have partnered with the main contractor, African Century Group, by providing opportunities to the local construction workers for growth, learning and upskilling who might not have had the experience in building a 4-star hotel,” emphasised Nassimov-Geva.

As the company continues to redefine hospitality in South Africa, it serves as an inspiring model for sustainable growth and inclusive development across the continent.
