Pioneering Projects and Milestones

Sakhiwo’s portfolio boasts an impressive array of projects that have significantly enhanced healthcare delivery in various regions:

  • Cecilia Makiwane Hospital: Located in East London, this state-of-the-art facility serves as a testament to Sakhiwo’s commitment to excellence. The hospital features a nursing college, emergency services, and specialised units, catering to a population of approximately 267,000.
  • Frere Hospital Oncology and ICU Units: Sakhiwo’s involvement in upgrading these critical units has improved cancer care and intensive care services in the Eastern Cape.
  • Sipetu District Hospital: In Ntabankulu, the Phase 2 upgrade included constructing a new main hospital complex and housing, enhancing healthcare accessibility for rural communities.
  • Siloam District Hospital: Currently under construction in Limpopo, this 224-bed facility represents a R1.6 billion investment aimed at improving healthcare services in the Vhembe District.
  • Limpopo Central Hospital: Set to be a 488-bed tertiary hospital in Polokwane, this project underscores Sakhiwo’s role in shaping future-ready healthcare institutions.

Innovative Approaches and Technological Integration

Sakhiwo’s commitment to innovation is evident in their adoption of “healing architecture,” a design philosophy that emphasises patient well-being through natural light, open spaces, and calming environments. This approach not only enhances patient recovery but also improves staff efficiency and satisfaction.

Moreover, the company is at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and telemedicine into healthcare facilities. These technologies bridge gaps in service delivery, especially in remote areas, ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all.
