A Glimpse Into Digistics’ Genesis and Evolution

Established in 1995 through a partnership between ASP Distributors and Spar, Digistics pioneered multi-temperature distribution within South Africa’s quick service restaurant (QSR) sector. This innovation addressed the unique challenges of transporting perishable goods across vast distances in varying climates. In 2003, following a management buyout, the company adopted the name Digistics (Pty) Ltd. The subsequent acquisition of a majority stake by Super Group Holdings in 2012, and the complete takeover in 2017, fortified Digistics’ position in the market.

Strategic Infrastructure and Operational Excellence

Today, Digistics operates seven state-of-the-art distribution centers strategically located in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Durban, and Bloemfontein. This extensive network ensures optimal coverage and efficiency in meeting the diverse needs of its clientele. The company’s fleet comprises over 287 vehicles, each equipped with advanced multi-temperature capabilities, allowing for the simultaneous transportation of frozen, chilled, and ambient products without compromising quality. Digistics always ensures that their products are delivered timely and in pristine condition. This client-centric approach has resulted in a 100% retention rate of contracts since the company’s inception.

In recent years, Digistics has expanded its service offerings and infrastructure. The company has invested in advanced warehouse management systems and fleet tracking technologies to enhance operational visibility and efficiency. Additionally, Digistics is exploring partnerships to further its sustainability initiatives, including expanding its biodiesel production capabilities. As the company continues to evolve, it not only contributes significantly to South Africa’s logistics landscape but also offers a blueprint for excellence that others in the industry can aspire to emulate.
